CCAD COMPREHENSIVE CAMPAIGN F.A.Q.

Q. To what does Form. Balance. Value. refer?

A. For this campaign, Form represents the growth and solidification of CCAD’s downtown campus, an essential aspect of CCAD’s commitment of resources to our educational and cultural mission. Balance corresponds to our partnership with the community as we invest in our students, faculty and staff and leverage their impact on our economy. Value points to the high-yield results of our quality education, our impact on central Ohio cultural life, and our effective cultivation of the creative services workforce.

Q. Why a $12-million campaign now?

A. CCAD is a tuition-driven enterprise on sound footing with conservative fiscal management. However, unlike state universities or community colleges, CCAD is a private institution and receives no government operating support. As CCAD continues to ascend as a destination college, it will require additional endowment and project funds to implement its 10-year strategic plan, which focuses on quality, not quantity.

Q. I graduated ___ years ago (or attended but never graduated). Why should I care?

A. Because it’s a matter of pride. Because you, better than anyone else, understand what CCAD needs to become a comprehensively great school of art and design, and you are in a position to help provide that for today’s CCAD students. Also:

  • Because this initiative will create a campus that is finally on par with CCAD’s academic reputation
  • Because your successes today (admit it!) are directly attributable to the professional and life skills you learned at CCAD
  • To recognize the impact of scholarship support and what it meant in your life
  • To give back and help future students get their BFAs

The bottom line is that your investment will help others and help yourself—after all, it’s contributing to the value of your degree.

Q. Will contributing to this campaign get me put on a mailing list that subjects me to incessant mailings?

A. Short answer: yes—but you already were on the list, because we want you to stay involved and informed regardless of whether you contribute. And if you do contribute, we hope that you will want to stay tuned long enough to see how your contribution helps make life better for students at CCAD.

Q. What is the difference between a capital campaign and a comprehensive campaign?

A. A capital campaign focuses only on the construction of or renovation to the physical plant of the institution. A comprehensive campaign meets multiple needs of the institution, for example, academic programming, endowment, and capital improvements.

Q. What is the current value of CCAD’s endowment and how will an additional $3.2 million improve the college?

A. Our total endowment is valued at approximately $9.7 million. Making an investment in CCAD’s Creative Drive will allow for advanced professional development for faculty, additional funds for student scholarships to ensure academic excellence, greater support for institutional operations and continued implementation of our strategic plan, which contributes to the reshaping of the downtown landscape.

Q. How much money is given to students in institutional aid?

A. Tuition charges per student for the 08-09 school year are $22,920. Last year, CCAD allocated over $10.2 million, or 29% of total revenues, to scholarships and grants through tuition forgiveness. Average total aid for degree-seeking students is more than $7,500. Need-based grants are calculated on unmet need after state, federal aid and student loans are applied. Merit scholarships are awarded solely on the student’s creative abilities. A student can receive both a merit scholarship and a need-based grant.

Q. What are the advantages of the international education program?

A. The advantages for students include a broadened perspective, a new vision shaped by immersion in new environments and unfamiliar cultures, engagement with many forms of art and design, and an international perspective on careers and professional worlds. This is a critical contribution to a student’s academic qualifications and resume.
